Working on my Vessels.
I’m in the midst of constructing an Ancestor Vessel – something I’ve sort of shirked away from in the past, as my family is (and ancestors) are very much Christian/Catholic. As such, I figured honoring them through witchcraft was something they wouldn’t be very happy about. Today, though, in prep for All Soul’s Day, I decided it was time.
So, I’ve been out collecting gravedirt from the graves of my great grandmothers.
There’s a little present tension, however, I’m not sure if that’s geared at me or one another – as they didn’t all get along so well. Specifically those on my mother’s side.
Another issue is that my grandmother was adopted – being an ancestral vessel, I know I needed the dirt of her birth mother, but I feel torn on whether or not I should include her adopted mother.

Mother Protection Prayer

This is less a spell and more a prayer – one for which you
will need a Spirit Vessel or Altar. If you have neither, construct a simple
shrine, consisting of whatever you have that is representative of your own
Goddess. If you do not follow a Goddess, I recommend using the personification
of Nature (i.e. Mother Nature). Bring with you an offering – what that offering
may be is heavily dependent on she whom you serve – and a candle. Light the
candle and present the offering before/on the shrine, altar or vessel, and read
thusly the following:
Oh my Mother:
{Name, epithet}
I have heard your call
I close my eyes and
wait for the echo
And you come in a
hurricane:
I watched you in the
dark,
My Mother, My Protector
The likes of which I’ve
never seen,
No one has matched the
spark
Oh my Mother:
{Name, epithet}
Under the spell of a
circle, I let my face show
Oh my heart is like an
eagle, I love to fall from the sky
It’s so beautiful, I
see right through the water’s edge
And I love your hands,
I let them lead me into the cage
And so I resign to your Desire –
Kept safe by the burning Fire –
Of your Power –
Give unto me your Strength, Mother, for
None might keep me
down; I am done, I am furious
Fear the lioness paint
her face black and golden
None can keep me down;
I am done, I am furious
For I am the Lion(ess) – prey to none;
You may let the candle burn and leave the offering; or you
may extinguish the candle, and leave it, along with the offering at a sacred
place of your own Goddess. I’m naturally inclined to the latter, but the choice
is very much your own.

Soon I’ll be posting a collection of songs turned into spells (which is one of my favorite hobbies) – so, get ready!!
A little Kate to end the work week with.
My altar is complete! It’s a little rough because I’m a bit out of my element with paint but I’m very happy. Thank you so much @qedavathegrey
