I’ve been contemplating mentioning this for a while and have thus far put it off, but given some odd happenings, I think it may be time to mention it.

Some weeks ago, I was sitting in my car in the dead of night — something I do often, if not nightly — when a figure approached. She was there quite suddenly, a distance away and standing between the streetlight and where I was sitting, making her into only a silhouette. Upon spotting her, she was instantly at my passenger window, her hands against the glass. While this should have unsettled me, I simply sat there plain faced. Not alarmed, not suspicious, though I feel as though I should have been.

She was wearing the most peculiar outfit, all black, though she wasn’t flat. Not like a shadow, she had dimension. On her head she wore a bonnet (of course black) and a period gown to match, though to call it clothing seems misleading. As ridiculous as it sounds, the best I can describe it is: imagine a fully dressed pilgrim woman who then put on a black morph suit overtop her regular clothing. It even had almost that same, synthetic sheen to it.

Her hands were on the glass, but moving in a very disconcerting way that seemed too playful. Again, while I recognized that this was probably not good, I still did nothing to stop her. I wasn’t paralyzed with fear or anything of the sort, just… indifferent? Resigned? I’m not sure. Regardless, the next thing I knew, she had jumped into me and situated herself at my core.

Of course, at this point I’d had enough and booted the bitch, but I don’t know. It was a bizarre experience and I still feel as though she is hanging around.

While I have no doubt I can get rid of her, I’m curious to know if any of you might have an inkling to what she might be. The closest thing I’ve experienced was a similar entity, also standing beneath a light, who took the form of a child. It was, however, most assuredly not a child and I recognized that immediately. That time I went in my way and had no problem, but I didn’t experience that same sense of “fuck naw” with this woman. It was strange.

I also recall being very tired at the time, absolutely beat. Which I think likely contributed. I was not at my best. Especially not to deal with some hoe who looked like she was ripped out of an AHS promo.

Obviously I’ve been thinking of Picasso recently.

You know what I rarely see? The consideration of household spaces and functionality being discussed in relation to witchcraft. Sure, we see kitchen witchcraft regularly, but bedrooms have meaning, bathrooms, living rooms.

For instance, I keep all (okay, most) of my witchcraft stuff in the solarium, quite consciously. It’s a liminal space of sorts, neither wholly inside nor wholly outside.

Of course, I know not every witch has defined spaces to work within (especially with this ‘open concept’ craze and studio apartments and yadda yadda), but I encourage considering the delineation of private space and how it might apply to your workings, just as you would with public space.

Just something to think on. I’d write something more in depth, but could only offer obvious correspondences and I think these spaces are (and should be) largely defined on an individual basis. Do be especially conscious of where food is consumed and shared.

@chaoticirce I’m so glad you brought up the bathroom, because I end up doing a lot of witchcraft in there! Bath rituals, the mirror, the connectedness of water. That’s where I keep all my oils and waters, lots of jewelry, the perfect place for beautifying the inside and the outside, and influencing perceptions. It’s also where I keep my Bowl (quite possibly the most important ritual tool I own), which, for those familiar with my Know What You Have Done ritual, should ring a bell: perfect for delving into minds.

Conversely, while I recognize the importance of bedrooms, I very rarely work in mine. It’s the place I have barred up tighter than Alcatraz, my ‘safe zone.’

New guy. He creeps me out, but in a good way…. I think.

@anonintheshadows I know nothing. I simply sit and paint whatever comes. No plan, no objective. But I named it ‘Santísimo,’ so perhaps that’s something!
