This night I will give wholly to witchcraft, on this the Eve of New Beginnings. I have been gathering and plotting for hours now, and my itinerary is as follows:

Return to the graveyard in which I blessed the lone tree and anointed in the name of Pomba Gira Maria Padilha Rainha dos Sete Infernos and blessed my cauldron in Hellfire.

Adorn this tree with strands of hot chile peppers and hanging black candles lit at either end. Evoking her presence and dancing with her there.

I will then give to her 7 scorched, whole walnuts, each bearing a unique ponto riscado for each of her 7 Queendoms, and offerings of food, herbs, spices and coffee sweetened with brown sugar, scented with cocoa, cinnamon and anise.

On my tronco/terreiro, I have lain 7 thornless roses and another cup of sweetened coffee.

Within the same ceremony, I will honor (if but in part), Baron Samedi – the vudun Lwa whom my Yayà asked be honor at her side, ringing the funerary bell 9 times in his honor and paying his effigy at the gates.
