Oya Sigil Reponse
Alright, this is how this is going to go. I’m going to deal with all questions and concerns regarding my Oya Sigil as quickly and proficiently as I can, so that we can put this issue to rest.
Any other concerns, in response, I will ask that you direct to Private Message.
With that being said, let us begin:
Again we must visit points like this…Orisha are not associated, worshipped, praised, etc through sigils, in fact, it doesn’t exist in Orisha traditions. Oya is my mother and she doesn’t have anything like this and it is false. Using this and thinking you calling on Oya is not correct, you calling on something else.
I addressed this (momentarily) under the wrong account – my apologies, I was driving and attempting to respond in a timely manner. Though, given a few mishaps, I deleted the original post with the intention of reposting it now.
I do not use this to summon Oya; I use this simply as a means by which to focus on Oya – and only in the ritual mentioned. Not as a means by which to call her to me, but put myself where I need to be. I use symbols as a means by which to alter myself.
But I walk my ass to the gates to call on her just the same. And I leave the traditional offerings, and have a place carved out for her iconography (whisk, beads, etc.) on my shelves.
These are legitimate questions, do not mistake them for indignation. You are always at liberty to correct me, this is how one learns.
It’s fine to come up with something for your own personal thing, but it universally has nothing to do with Oya or traditions that serve Her. Might be something nice whatever to show Her, but it’s not much else.
Orisha symbols are highly guarded, are individual to specific ramas, and aren’t something readily available. They don’t look like the sigil above, which is more ceremonial in nature.
This is precisely the meaning behind the symbol. A means by which for me to connect as stated above. I never intended or suggested that this was to use as a means of summons.
I appreciate your understanding and the information you’ve disclosed – You’ve saved me some time! Thank you.
I havent heard of this or seen before . Where did this come from? But i know orishas do not carry sigils to my knowledge . Looks like ceremonial magic
I want to make this clear just because you are a ceremonial magician you still have no license to do this. Oya might push your wig back just for doing this. I see lots of things online teaching people to that there is a way around following our traditions and ceremonial magic can over ride our rules and again its just not true … Pure invento.
As I mentioned, I did not invent this symbol, it was found and remade by me for no other reason than to serve my need at the time. Again, as I stated above, this is NOT INTENDED TO SUMMON OYA (I’m not yelling, just making this abundantly clear for those who might read it) – In fact, I don’t even much like using the word “summon” and “Oya” in the same sentence, as it denotes an element of control – and I think we all know that one does not even ATTEMPT to control Oya.
Also, it does have elements of ceremonial magic, but I do NOT practice ceremonial magic. This is not my creation, but a recreation, which I used merely as a symbol for Oya. Not a work with her, but a personal ritual – one without magical intent, but as a ceremony to mark the next steps I am making.
Throwing this in as an extra, but: None of the symbols or sigils I post (with the exception of combined veves or other well-known means of conjure) are intended to be used for summons. Their intentions are both to serve as “keys” or landmarks for me to use. The intent of this page was originally to make my works and symbols accessible to me from anywhere. I post publicly, but for all intents and purposes, the things I post here are for me. If anyone chooses to use them in ways not VERY CLEARLY expressed by me, you’re talking things into your own hands. Some symbols you’ll notice I’ve laid out specific instructions for their use. If a symbol doesn’t have specific instructions or “possible uses,” it probably means “It’s not to be used.”
I apologize for the confusion brought on by my original post, but made it without even thinking twice, as I’m accustomed to sharing with those who understand my meaning, without needing to be told. I suppose I should post with a little more clarity. I will amend the Original Post with the information of both its origin and its use (or rather, the way it is NOT to be used).
I hope I have clarified and any other concerns, I will be happy to hear – through private message, though if it serves to be informative or helpful, I may well answer it publicly.
Hopefully clearer,

Goofer Dust Recipe

Now, I know this is one of those things that you just aren’t supposed to divulge to anyone and I know quite a few people who would take their recipe to the grave (conveniently, given the circumstance…):
I, however, am not so private – or rather, I don’t mind sharing a few trade secrets.
I don’t intend to hold you hand for this process or walk you through specifics. If you choose to attempt this recipe, you do so on your own free will – don’t put it on me.
Things You’ll Need:
- Dirt from a Sinner’s Grave (it’s a loose term, but you’ll know it when you find it – always pay at the gates and at the stone)
- Red Pepper Seeds
- Black Peppercorns (whole is better, then crushed forcibly)
- Black Salt (Kala Namak)
- Sulphur Powder
- Lava Rock (powdered)
- Limestone (powdered)
- Iron Oxide (scraped from iron nails)
- Traditionally, Snake Skin/Shed is also added, but I prefer Powdered Slug
- Powdered, Hot Red Peppers
- Black Dog Hair
Gather your ingredients and take them into the cemetery – paying your way. Without reading any of the stones, make your way to its center (alt. count 7 stones and do you working at the 7th you come to – I find this to be a little insensitive, however, given the 7th stone was probably just an unsuspecting person in life, garnering no added benefit).
Once there, “wash” your hands with Dark Rum, and pour some unto the earth. Combine your ingredients in a bowl or bag, beginning with the (9) peppercorns and red pepper flakes. Crush them with a rock or in a mortar.
To this, add your Dirt and mix thoroughly. Add in: Powdered Lava Rock, Sulphur, Black Salt, Iron Oxide, and Limestone (in no particular order). In a separate vessel or simply on the ground, combine Black Dog Hair, Powdered Red Pepper and Powder Slug/Snakeskin. Scoop with hands and add to the dirt mixture.
Wash hands with Rum again, and dust them with Cascarilla.
Leave a Piece of Silver (Coins were ideal, but aren’t made with silver anymore – though coins are better than NOTHING) or light a Black Candle where you worked. Collect your belongings and take 7 paces backward, at which point turn away and do not look back until through the gates.
Lighting some candles for Baltimore. And I’d ask y’all to do the same.
Given the circumstances, they’re going to need all the protection they can get.
If the law doesn’t need a reason to attack, why should we to enact Justice on those who would attack senselessly those already persecuted and oppressed?
Light a candle. Light a few.
Let’s bring the hammer down, witches.
Whore of Babylon Oil

A condition/formula oil used to garner favor by shamelessly utilizing your own wiles – both natural and added.
In a sense, it is a mean by which to climb any metaphorical ladder or obtain dominion over a person or a group of people.
In this aspect, it is similar to Bend Over Oil or Commanding Oil. But it doubles for its ability to conjure lust – as a means by which to gain this power.
Shamelessly, of course.
As an ode to Revelations’ portrayal of Rome (or Jerusalem – depending on who you ask), the Whore of Babylon is portrayed riding atop a beast with 7 heads – which draws immediate tethers in my mind to Pomba Gira at this point. Thusly I concocted this oil in accordance to the “7 heads” of the beast, incorporating 7 elements/ingredients to the formula.
- Anise Seed (not
star anise)
- Licorice Root
- Calamus Root *
- Thorny Rose Stems
- Half-Stick Candle**
- Black Pepper
- (7x) Knotted Red Ribbon
In a carrier oil heat any crushed or powdered herbs over low heat until it becomes fragrant – at which point remove and allow to cool until safe enough to tolerate (should any hot oil get frisky).
To your bottle (amber or red is better, but not wholly necessary) add sticks, stems, roots and curios – those being Licorice Root, Calamus Root (if not powdered), Rose Stems, Half-Stick Candle and Knotted Ribbon. Obviously, be careful with the sharp bits – though blood may very well be beneficial – as it often is.
Add to this your warm oil, cork and allow to steep for a least one week before use.
Feel free to adjust the ratios of ingredients until they feel right to you.
Notes:
* An alternative to calamus root (in this particular oil, not in general) is to lightly spritz candied ginger with water or white vinegar and dust with cinnamon powder, then dried in the oven on very low heat.
** A Half-Stick Candle is what I call a small candle (like a chime) that has been formed of two halved candles. Here you would want half black and half red – the order of which is unimportant. Simply halve one red and one black chime candle replace the length with the opposite color and bind the halves together with heat. Ex: x = black, o = red; xxxx|oooo
