I responded to your questions, but apparently it didn’t post – I was on mobile, and I’ve found that it just won’t post anything if it’s over a certain length.
So, here it goes for round 2 – the abridged version:
The Guide was a blonde woman who had an almost militant air about her. The sort of person who is reserved, but strategic. Quiet, and during the course of the dream she said very little, only to toss warnings at the group to the extent of: ‘Be careful, this is a harsh incline’ or ‘The stone is wet, be careful not to slip.’ Interestingly, however, she carried a torch. The rest of the group had flashlights and powerful spotlights to account for the cameras. The Guide, though, toted a torch, The old kind you would expect to see in a dungeon or the likes of Indiana Jones carrying. I have wondered if the fire had something to do with it.
It’s also important to note in regards to the Guide, that she did not know these creatures were there – but she knew something was. She had a strong intuition, that much was clear. Of course, this goes back to the second part of the dream wherein she is present, the Red Women never exposed themselves. They were there, and watching, and I think the Guide could sense someone or something watching, by the way she seemed to be ever searching for something on just the other side of the darkness. But when she was present, the Red Women did not come near. They watched quietly. They were not upset with her presence, they were just being vigilant. If anything, her presence actually calmed the Women – whereas in the portion without her, the Women were feral – and delighted in torturing the unwanted guests. They would laugh – in their strange shrieking noises – as they drug one away. It was very unsettling. Like cats playing with mice.
The Den was very interesting – it was situated deep in the cave, through a series of tunnels that snaked upward through the stone, nearer and nearer to the surface. The main Den, where the Red Women stayed was cavernous – much like the tunnels in Malta now that I think about it! There were scant furniture, mostly stools and the like hewn out of the stone. The cavern gave way to a dark tunnel, wherein the Leader resided. It was strange, because it was very dark, but I also remember there being a blindingly white light. And I mean, white, not like the sun which has a warmer glow – this light was harsh and painfully white. And the Women, whose noises were now partially intelligible to me were speaking, but I don’t remember what they were saying. The gist of which was them leading me toward the tunnel to the Leader’s chamber.
I walked into the mouth of the dark tunnel (which was very narrow, in that you had to turn to the side to squeeze through) and out of the blinding white light came a massive swarm of bats – which didn’t phase me. I just kept walking forward into the light and when I entered, I was transported back to the original mouth of the cave, watching from the cavernous ceiling through the eyes of bats, with the Leader next to me, showing me the scene. It was almost as if we were one with the darkness, because I could see here and we were both clung free of gravity against the craggy, rock arch. And it was then that she showed me the group dismounting from the dingy, and I watched, afraid I was going to be forced to watch the same scene again – but this time, The Guide climbed from the dingy after they had all touched their feet to land.
At which point, she led the group in, with torch in hand into the cave. And they came to a fork in the tunnel, at which point the Guide began squinting her eyes into the shadows to try to make out any semblance of recognizable shape – all the while, the Red Women, their Leader and I all clung to the darkness watching. The dream ended with the Guide abruptly turning around and holding the torch up, and the Leader looked to me as if to say:
“Had they only come with her, things could have been different.”

It’s interesting you should mention Lilith, because while I don’t think it was the singular Lilith, but the idea that they could be lilitu is not a bad idea, actually. I’ve never known them to be described as “red” – but, nonetheless, the theory has some weight to it.
However, I’m not sure why lilitu would be held in a cave – yes, they’re creatures of the night – but I’ve never heard of them being bound to caves, especially considering they rely heavily on humankind in a parasitic capacity. This could explain, in part, the reasoning behind the fact that only women were present – though, be it biblical bastardization or not, they seem to be connected to both fertility and infants, of which there were none, so I’m stumped.
Thank you for the input! And while I’m not sure that they were lilitu, I think you might be on the right track – perhaps a near relative. Something about the hairstyle did have an undeniably Sumerian appearance, so I’ll look into relatives from the same origin!
